The Next Generation Workshop

The Next Generation Workshop

We are bringing together community and resident groups from across the city, but particularly from those areas experiencing significant investment and regeneration, to discuss how we ensure that communities and people remain at the heart of the plans.

What type of homes do we need? Who will be living in them? How can we design homes that are future-proof, flexible and adaptable enough for future changing needs, lifestyles and technologies? What should the type of construction and materials be? How can we make these homes energy efficient, sustainable, with minimum waste? How can we overcome the challenge of scarce resources and boost the use of locally sourced, recycled, non-traditional materials? How can we design housing to tackle climate change and reduce our environmental footprint?

The aim is to create a 'blueprint' for how communities, the public and private sector want to work together in partnership to deliver growth in their home city.
